from Hyperbubble + Manda Rin, released February 14, 2013
Teleport back to 1996 and a cheery wee girl by the name of Manda Rin shouts her way through a song called ‘Kandy Pop’ on Top of the Pops. Along with bandmates Sci-fi Steven & John Disco, their first Top of The Pops appearance went down in history, with Bis becoming the only “unsigned” band to appear on the legendary TV show.

Going on to sell over 100,000 albums in Japan, signing to the Beastie Boys’ Grand Royal label in the States, and soundtracking the popular Powerpuff Girls cartoon series, Manda and Bis continue to perform live.

Jump ahead to the 21st Century and BBC disc jockey Huw Stephens playing a new single by two crazy Texans known as Hyperbubble. Europe catches the buzz and Jess and Jeff tour Europe three times, promoting CD releases on labels from Italy, England, Scotland, France, and Germany.

Hyperbubble's third album, Candy Apple Daydreams, hits several best-of lists, including the Pansentient League's top five synthpop albums (Scotland) , Electro and Pop's Top Albums of 2010 (France) , Best Albums Of 2010 by the Houston Presst (US), Keyboard Magazine's Editor's Picks (US) , and The Electricity Club's top 30 songs of the year (England).

The following year, Manda contributes guest vocals to Hyperbubble's fourth album, Drastic Cinematic. and they have so much fun, they decide to do some more!

Jeff: "I saw Bis perform in Austin, and thought they were the perfect band...an astonishing mix of Riot Grrrl, Disco, and Pop. Also, Jess and I were Powerpuff Girl fanatics, so I was blown away when I heard from a DJ friend that Manda was interested in recording with us. For this new EP, I wrote songs especially for Manda to sing."

Jess: "... and she totally delivered the goods."

Manda: " My cat Akiko even did some backing vocals!"

New reviews of Hyperbubble + Manda RIn EP:

"an instant jolt of pure unadulterated F-U-N. ...the upbeat danceable synth-pop cuts are what made us go bonkers over this infectious EP. ...Truly lovable stuff that's a total feelgood experience"
-BabySueLMNOP

"colourful cartoon pop tunes from Texan synth duo HYPERBUBBLE and MANDA RIN...about “females, felines and outerspace” even features their cats Akiko, Smokey and Flyboy on the closing track ‘Attack Of The 3-D Space Kittens’. With lashings of vintage reference points, HYPERBUBBLE and MANDA RIN is a quirky collection of synthesised fun."
-The Electricity Club

"When the kandy pop Manda Rin meets the electric duo, Hyperbubble, it creates a universe of quirky and tasty mix of synthesizers, animals and space...instant pop songs with no other purpose than to provide a good time, and the maximum amount of pleasure."
-Electro and Pop

"a six-song mini-LP that feels like videogame soundtracks, kooky ’80s new-wave kitsch, thoroughly modern 8-bit sparkles and synth-laden Saturday morning cartoon themes all mashed into the sonic equivalent of a truck full of Twizzlers."
-Alternative Press

Previous Hyperbubble/Manda Rin/Bis reviews:

" Early Eurythmics meets Josie and the Pussycats! Drum machines and resonant analog squirts form the basis of (Hyperbubble's) unapologetic anthems to the golden age of electropop. The vibe is all about having too much fun to care if you look like a dork, and if you’re too cool for that, the joke’s on you."
- Keyboard Magazine

" Bow Wow Wow filtered through riot grrrl aesthetics."
- Rolling Stone Magazine

"It's all delivered with such honest intensity--and such a musically winning environment--that resistance is short-lived. Be prepared to hop around."
-Option Magazine
